Farmers Market

For $20 you can visit your local farmers market and come home with a large bag of beautiful healthy produce (granted you’re not buying mangoes…). I find this so fulfilling mostly because the money goes directly to the farmer, not the supermarket. But also because the variety of things you can buy expands your creativity – even when your preparation includes melting butter and adding salt. And that’s all I did.

  • A generous bounty of local greens, beans, turnips & radishes
  • local, unsalted butter (or olive oil)
  • sea salt
  • *I used up some leftover beef sausage ~ 1/3 cup chopped to add flavor to the base. Regular sausage would be nice or omit all together

Heat your pan on a medium flame add a good dab of butter. (I added sausage here) Add veggies starting with the turnips or roots you might be using. Once butter has melted, stir fry until everything is wilted and bright. Serve alongside a yummy starch like spaghetti squash and a bit of shredded cheese.
