Kaua‘i Farm-to-School Project Assistant (Intern)

Kaua’i Farm-to-School Hui Project Manager & Executive Director

Overview:

The Kaua’i Farm-to-School Intern will support the islandwide effort to advance farm-to-school, including DOE’s ‘Aina Pono Program, across the island. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in coordinating and developing communications for quarterly Farm-to-School Hui meetings to keep stakeholders up to date and collaborating effectively
  • Provide support to DOE School Food Services Branch as needed with tasks to support ‘Aina Pono program rollout on Kaua’i related to training, procurement, and community building
  • Actively engage with the agricultural community to promote local procurement and sourcing opportunities for farm-to-school
  • Outreach and engagement for school garden and cafeteria staff trainings (ex. Garden-to-Cafeteria or Rat Lungworm workshops)
  • Assist in developing social media content to tell engaging stories and promote community and industry engagement with farm-to-school

Qualifications:

  • A Hawai’i resident currently in college or recently graduated from college
  • Must have own transportation
  • Skilled in Google Docs/Drive and social media
  • Self-motivated, organized multi-tasker

Compensation Details:

This part-time position is flexible depending upon the candidate’s availability and their previous experience level. Pay range is $15-$20 per hour.
