Part-time Village Harvest Program Coordinator

The Village Harvest Program Coordinator will help expand and build sustainability for the island-wide gleaning program that identifies, harvests and delivers unwanted fresh produce to those in need through schools, after school programs, and food banks. The objectives of this program are to build a community-based gleaning network to educate the community about and engage them in solving our island’s critical issues related to hunger, agricultural waste, and access to fresh produce.

This position will help to manage the administration, fundraising, and operations of the program for 19 hours per week, M-F. The position is located in Kalihiwai at our Community Farm location and will begin ASAP.

YOU WILL:

  • Oversee day-to-day program management
  • Supervise, train, and mentor a full-time AmeriCorps VISTA member
  • Ensure budget adherence / management
  • Monitor program data and draft various reports about program
  • Identify and write grants, as well as develop and manage fundraisers
  • Help to create volunteer management and recruitment strategies
  • Create and modify volunteer training documents and processes; report data to Volunteer Coordinator
  • Monitor and audit gleaning activities for improvements
  • Survey and build relationships with recipient sites and core volunteer groups for program needs and improvements
  • Lead community outreach presentations about program
  • Ensure gleaning equipment and resources are in working order

 

SKILLS NEEDED:

  • Previous administrative experience and strong computer skills, including Google Docs/Drive
  • A passion for getting healthy food to those who need it most
  • A warm, outgoing, aloha spirit, balanced with results-oriented focus
  • Attention to detail and ability to multi-task
  • Long-term residency in Hawai‘i, Kaua‘i preferable
