Village Harvest Gleaning Team Volunteers (Island-wide)

We’re looking for new volunteers for our Village Harvest Gleaning Groups! Join others in your community to help spread awareness of hunger and food waste issues, while actively engaging in solving these issues. There are a number of ways you can get involved.

  • Harvest Fruit in your Area
    We glean fruit from all over the island to make sure we benefit food programs in your community. At harvest events, you’ll be harvesting fruits and/or vegetables and preparing them for delivery. You can sign up as an individual or as a group. This is a fun event if you want to meet new people and be outdoors while harvesting delicious fruit!  If you have a truck or van, you can also volunteer to assist in delivering the produce to various schools, after school programs, and food pantries in your community.
  • Outreach to Tree Donors
    We are currently expanding the program to meet the needs of our food site recipients. We need your help by surveying your area for falling fruit! We’ll provide you with door tags and a quick elevator speech to make it easy. You can also help raise awareness by passing out flyers at community events, schedule program presentations or gleaning video viewings.  This position is perfect for you is you like taking initiative, working independently, and networking. It’s a great opportunity to get involved in various community groups or if you are interested in becoming more involved with your area.
  • Become a Village Harvest Leader
    Maybe you are an experienced in harvesting fruit and are excited to get involved with the program on an ongoing basis. We are looking for dedicated community members to lead harvests in the community. This person should be comfortable in leading 5-10 volunteers in harvesting fruit, ideally, once a month. As a Village Harvest Leader, you’ll receive training in harvesting a wide variety of fruit, using equipment, food safety practices, and fruit tree maintenance.Ideal candidates have a truck and are interested in taking on a leadership position in their community. Plus, you’ll be recognized in your community as making a huge difference!
