Malama Kaua'i: Kilauea Town Action Plan Picnic this Sunday
Delivered on March 31, 2008

Kilauea Town Action Plan, Project Presentation and Picnic with musician Mike Young!
This Sunday, April 6

Sunday, April 6th from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Malama Kaua'i will be presenting an action plan for each of the 50 or so projects that the Kilauea Community identified during several public meetings back in January. The event will be held outside in the Dispensory Park (the grass park in front of the Stone Buildings in the heart of Kilauea Town).

"Project Board" for the
Kilauea Skate Park

In order to make the event more fun, our friend and musician Mike Young (www.mikeyoungmusic.net) will be providing live local jams for us while we enjoy the day outside. Bring some food, a blanket and your family and enjoy the sounds while viewing the project templates we have put together for Kilauea.

The project ideas will be presented on "project boards" co-designed with area elementary school students. Each board will include a project overview, initial goals, similar success stories, important contact information for local resources and possible next steps on how to get each project off the ground.

These boards will be displayed in an interactive way that will allow residents to walk among them and sign up for projects that they feel inspired to participate in or want to learn more about. Malama Kaua'i will then help by providing organizational assistance to project groups so they can focus on success and really bring these projects to life for the community.

To show it's possible, we also took a few of the project ideas and moved them ahead already. So part of the event will be unvieling these for the community to check out.

If you are interested in something similar for your neighborhood stop by and check it out! For more information on this event, including a list of the projects to be presented, visit the Malama Kaua'i website.
