Today we recap the Max3R / Recycling Conference that was at KCC last weekend and talk with renowned sustainability expert Mary Altomare.

The guest on today's show is Mary E. Altomare, BA, MA. Mary Altomare has been instrumental in helping to define the strategic vision for dozens of organizations throughout North America, Central America and Europe, and coaching them through successful change initiatives. She has held senior administrative positions at Yale and Duke universities. Prior to forming Sustainability Partners, Mary and Brian Nattrass led the consulting practice of The Natural Step in the US and Canada. In 2004, Mary was awarded a Batten Fellowship at the Darden Graduate School of Business Administration, University of Virginia, to pursue research and writing on sustainable business practices and sustainable innovation.

Mary is the coauthor of three books with Brian Nattrass on sustainability and corporate responsibility. Their most recent book, DANCING WITH THE TIGER: Learning Sustainability Step by Natural Step, focuses on the dynamics of innovation, organizational transformation, and the integration of more sustainable business practices. It features detailed case studies providing some of the latest learning from their clients such as Starbucks, Nike, the US Marines, the City of Seattle, the Resort Municipality of Whistler, and the global engineering firm of CH2M HILL. A previous book, THE NATURAL STEP FOR BUSINESS: Wealth, Ecology and the Evolutionary Corporation (1999), has become an international sustainability bestseller, and is used by businesses, universities, and government agencies around the world.
